The Center for the Ecology of Infectious Diseases (CEID) is searching for an undergraduate intern for the fall semester. This is a part-time position and the accepted applicant can expect to work about 9 hours/week. Scheduling is semi-flexible based on applicant and CEID schedules. This is an unpaid internship that offers 2-4 hours of credit in ECOL 4940, depending on a mutually agreed upon schedule.
The CEID intern will collaborate with members and staff to communicate CEID activities and news via a variety of media outlets. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting CEID newsletters and announcements via MailChimp and twitter
- Announcement of CEID member publications via the CEID website
- Writing of abstracts/summaries to accompany publication announcements
- Communication with internal and external speakers
- Assistance with CEID event operations, including photography for event promotion purposes
- Advocacy for undergraduate participation in CEID events
The desired intern will have the following attributes:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word or comparable word processing software
- Experienced with Twitter, MailChimp, and/or WordPress or the ability to quickly learn and use these platforms
- Strong writing, editing, and summarizing skills – especially skills in science writing
- Strong organization skills and comfort using Google Drive and Dropbox
- Maintains a high work ethic and effective time management skills
- Is cognizant of the importance in clear, regular communication between the CEID and its stakeholders
- Interested in the ecology of infectious diseases
- Applicants able to attend CEID staff meetings (Mondays at 11:00AM) and occasional CEID events (some Wednesdays at 12:20) are preferred
