CEID Welcomes First Cohort of Postdoctoral Scholars

This summer, CEID is excited to welcome Lewis Bartlett, Emlyn Resetartis, and Elizabeth Warburton, as our first cohort of the CEID Postdoctoral Scholars program.

  • Lewis Bartlett joins us July 1st, upon completion of a postdoctoral appointment at Emory University. Lewis finished his PhD with the University of Exeter and UC Berkeley. Lewis uses his favourite system of managed honeybees to test fundamental concepts in EEID, including using theory, field, and laboratory studies. He also works to better inform agricultural practitioners by applying EEID concepts to honeybee and native pollinator systems. Lewis hopes to further develop this intersection as well as continue his theoretical work on spatial structuring and virulence evolution. Lewis teaches honeybee disease management to all levels of apiculturalists across GA, including in Georgia’s correctional facilities.
  • Emlyn Resetarits joins us July 1st, having earned her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin.  Emlyn focuses on putting parasites in a community context. She is interested in how parasites are structured across scales, respond to competition for hosts, and influence nutrient cycling through host changes. Emlyn has primarily worked in aquatic systems on a wide variety of topics including metacommunity theory, resource allocation, and sociality.
  • Elizabeth Warburton joins us August 19th. She studies host-parasite systems over various spatiotemporal scales. Her research ranges from continent-wide analyses of drivers of parasite community structure to bidirectional fitness effects between individual parasites and hosts. Dr. Warburton is a former Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar and currently the Blaustein Prestigious Fellow at the Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research, Ben Gurion University of the Negev (Sde Boker, Israel). She received a Ph.D. in biological sciences from Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo, MI), a M.S. in biological sciences from Emporia State University (Emporia, KS) and a B.S. in biology from Saint Mary’s College (Notre Dame, IN)
